After a training session today, Sunday 13th, we asked coach Pascal Vieser some questions concerning Tiomila.
KOKs last selection race for Tiomila was held on Wednesday does this mean the team will be selected soon?Yes, we will do the final selections tomorrow, Monday 14th.
Is the team self evident or is the selection challenging? The last places on a team are always difficult to select, but this year KOK as many good runners and selecting the 10 that will make the best team is a real challenge.
A question that many especially abroad have been interested in is if Jørgen Rostrup will be on the first team? No, he will definitely not make the first team this year.
Halden SK has some years made a point of keeping their team secret as long as possible. Will KOK also try to keep the team secret? No. We will try to publish the team as soon as possible. All the runners and the media will be informed, then we will publish the team on this site. Possibly as soon as Tuesday 15th. I see no need to keep the team secret, we want to signal that we focus on our selves and making sure we perform as well as possible. We don't care what other teams think or do. I don't believe there is any secret tactic that will win the relay. It is most important to field 10 god runners. That is what KOK will do.
This is your first major relay as coach for KOK, are you exited?Yes, I am very exited and I am already nervous!
How well do you think KOK will do?Our goal is a top 5 position. I believe this to be realistic and think we will be fighting for a place on the podium.
Naturally the focus is on the first team, but how about the other KOK teams? What do you think of them?I believe the mens second team also will be very strong, most of the runners will be form our elite group. I think it sould be one of the best second teams. I'm not quite sure what sort of position they can achieve, but probably top 50. Sadly we don't have many elite women in KOK at the moment so I really don't know about the women's team.
